A grandfather who was the oldest man in Wales has died at the age of 107.
Born in Leicester in December 1911, Searson received care at his home in Aberdyfi – where he moved to when he retired – until recently.
He was understood to be not only the oldest man in Wales, but also one of the oldest people in the UK to remain living in their own home before he moved to the care home in Tywyn.
Still driving at 102 years old, Mr Thompson appeared on the TV programme 100 Year Old Drivers in 2014, where he spoke of the freedom and independence that driving afforded him in spite of his age.
Searson was the recipient of four birthday cards from the Queen – for his 100th, 105th, 106th and 107th birthdays.
There will be a private cremation service for family and close friends on Friday, 9 August, at 11am, followed by a public funeral service to celebrate his life at St Peter’s Church, Aberdyfi at 2pm that day.
Donations will go towards Aberdyfi RNLI and Wales Air Ambulance.
Searson was a father of one and a grandfather of one.
He leaves behind his daughter-in-law Jane and granddaughter Alice.
