Madam,

What a magical and entertaining experience it was attending the Wardens pantomime Aladdin.

Each year the production reflects the increasingly high standards of performance but also highlights the improving quality of what is on offer for young people in Ceredigion.

A huge congratulations to the Wardens, Aberystwyth Arts Centre and all those who bring this momentous production together.

Besides a marvellously choreographed, confident and enthusiastic chorus; an extremely professional live band; a technical crew who supplied some brilliant theatrical illusions and of course some star turns from the lead players, it is the fact that this is all ‘home grown’ and a smoothly produced ensemble that makes such a loved and massively supported production.

In an age when technology is swamping young lives and leading to a more passive existence and schools are finding it more and more difficult to include drama, music, sport and the creative arts as part of the main curriculum, it is good to see a whole stage full of young people enthusiastically singing, dancing and acting.

It is important for youngsters to use their bodies to express themselves. A huge part of our lives are now spent in front of screens so it is vital to engage in activities which involve creative and real experience.

Yours etc,

Stuart Evans, Borth.
