THIS week we have two photographs from the 1960s that we hope readers can help shed some light on.

A Tremadog woman is appealing to the community to help her trace the individuals in the first photo, which was taken around 50 years ago.

Mary Josephine Tiernan, 72, who appears in the photo on the right in a frilly dress, believes the photo was taken at Pencei when she was around 20 years old, but has asked the Cambrian News for more information about the photograph, and for help in tracing who else is in the photo.

If anyone has any information about this photograph, please write to Julie McNicholls Vale at Timewatch, Cambrian News, Aberystwyth Science Park, Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, SY23 3AH.

And does anyone recognise the people in the second picture?

It was sent in by Timewatch reader, Hugh Roberts, from Barmouth, and shows pupils of Bontddu Primary School in 1960.

Mr Roberts has a few names, but would love to hear from readers who can fill in the blanks.

“When opportunity avails could you please seek pupils names,” he asked ‘Timewatch’.

“The headmaster is Iorwerth Williams and the female teacher is Fanny Day.”

Can you name the pupils in the picture? If you can, please write to Timewatch at the usual address.
