A 49-YEAR-OLD Llandysul mum of twins – one of whom has Down’s Syndrome – is tackling next month’s London Marathon to raise £2,000 for The Disabilities Trust.
Tina Hill, of Pontsian, who has no previous running experience, is now training hard for the 22 April event.
“I’m not a runner and have never run before so this is a first for me,” she told the Cambrian News.
“I started my training on 2 January, kept to my training plan and all is going well so far.”
The mum-of-four explained that her four children were her inspiration.
“Leon and Raven are twins – Raven is a straight A student at Newcastle Emlyn school and Leon, who is progressing slowly, is doing well at Lampeter school.
“To have twins and one having Down’s Syndrome is quite a rare in itself so we class our family as being very lucky.
“Leon underwent heart surgery at five months old. This led to slow physical development which affected his walking amongst other things.
“With help from lots of physio and immense support from his brother and sisters Leon finally walked at the age of two.
“Now, at almost 15 years of age and with the continued support from family, Leon is developing into a wonderful young man.
“He continues to look for assurance from his siblings and they have never failed him.”
