A POPULAR food festival is hoping to come back bigger and better than last year.
Aberdyfi is about to serve up second helpings of its popular food festival, which is being held on the Wharf in the centre of the village on Saturday, 20 August.
The festival will feature cookery demonstrations by local chefs as well as the opportunity to sample a wide range of Welsh produce including seafood, award-winning cheeses, fresh pasta, locally reared meat, Snowdonia honey, smoked foods, preserves and jams, ‘gourmet’ ice-lollies, beer, cider and wine and Aberdyfi cakes, cookies and fudge.
Michelin-starred chef Gareth Ward from Ynyshir Hall is the special guest and he will get the cookery demonstrations under way at 11am in the theatre kitchen, where he will showcase his skills.
Other local chefs and suppliers will also be putting on demonstrations throughout the day.
Event organiser Neil Storkey said: “The inaugural Aberdyfi Food Festival held last year exceeded our wildest expectations and we’re hoping to go one better this time around.
“There will also be a crabbing competition for the kids and singing by the Aberdyfi Glee Club.
“This is an event for all the family and we have something to offer everyone, whatever their age or culinary preferences.
“Visitors are welcome to watch the demonstrations, browse the stalls, sample the food and buy fresh produce they may not have come across before.”
The Aberdyfi Food Festival is sponsored by the Aberdyfi Community Council.
Further information is available via the Festival’s Facebook page: ‘Aberdyfi Food Festival’.
The Festival is free of charge and will be open from 10.30am to 4.30pm.
