BLAENAU Ffestiniog is planning to turn the clock back half a century when it stages a nostalgic look at the 1940s.
The Vintage ’40s day and Classic Car Show is being held in the town on Sunday, 31 July.
It is the first one the town has organised and hopes are high for a big turnout for what should be a fun-filled and colourful day.
The day will raise money for the Wales Air Ambulance, Help for Heroes and SSAFA.
Invitations to vintage car owners have been sent via the Automobile Club of North Wales and is open to historic vehicles built at least 30 years ago, but hot classic car, especially military vehicles, are welcome. E-mail [email protected] if you would like to join in.
In addition to the cars there will be a host of other attractions to suit all tastes and ages.
The idea of the day stemmed from a meeting of the local chamber of commerce which was looking at ways of attracting more visitors to the town.
In addition to the vintage cars there are plans for ’40s swing dance lessons; tea dances; 1940s Bingo housey-housey; vintage stalls; traditional fairground stalls; R/C aircraft displays, Land Army, make and mend and WI exhibitions; and talks by local authors.
‘Evacuees’ played by local school children will also arrive on the Ffestiniog Railway Station and walk down to the Church Hall where there will be a tea party for the over 85s.
If you are keen to join in, contact Gaile Louise Weir on [email protected] entitled ‘Vintage Help” or call her on 0795 7621845.
