Madam,
With the announcement of Barclays shutting down its Llanidloes branch in November, the town will once again have to fight to keep essential services for its people.
With this closure goes our last bank in our town, a scenario that is, sadly, all too common in rural towns across mid Wales. A town such as Llanidloes needs a facility where businesses and residents can change money, and deposit cheques face-to-face with a representative from that bank.
The town of Llanidloes has shown in the past that it has what it takes to deal with closures and threats of closures, and this will not be any different. The town’s residents will work to make sure that the town will continue to prosper.
Unlike institutions such as Barclays and others who have left the town, we think the town has a bright future.
Yours etc,
Cllr Aled Wyn Griffiths, Plaid Cymru town councillor, Llanidloes - Hafren Ward.
