A LAMPETER tractor charity run went ahead on Sunday morning in memory of its popular organiser who unexpectedly died from a heart attack last month.

John Owen, 82, had asked fellow members of the Lampeter and District Vintage Club if they would help carry on with the run from Gwili Jones yard when they visited him in hospital, just in case he was not out in time to lead the run himself.

The event, which ended at the Lampeter Rugby Club for a carvery lunch that John had again pre-arranged, raised £1,015 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Club members presented John’s wife Cath with a canvas of John on his beloved Ferguson Grey and Gold tractor.
