A YELLOW warning for wind and rain has been issued by the Met Office as Storm Imogen hits the Welsh coast.

Winds have reached up to 80mph in Ireland, with a high of 56mph at Aberystwyth’s coast, bringing waves crashing dramatically over the promenade again. The wind warning in south Wales has been upgraded to amber, however winds are expected to die down during the day.

The Met Office has warned people that travel disruptions are likely, as well as damage to trees and structures and interruption of power supplies. Ferry services from Pembrokeshire have been cancelled today and there are reports of fallen trees and flooding blocking roads across Wales.

The severe weather is also affecting transport links, with Arriva Trains Wales warning passengers to check their journey before travelling. Arriva Trains Wales have said that trains are currently not operating between Machynlleth to Aberystwyth or Machynlleth to Pwllheli due to flood water being above a safe level to operate train services. Limited road transport is in operation (hampered by local road conditions), but they are advising passengers not to attempt travel between Aberystwyth - Machynlleth & Machynlleth - Pwllheli (in both directions).Check cancellations here: https://www.journeycheck.com/arrivatrainswales/
