A ‘TRANQUIL retreat’ has opened in Capel Seion, near Aberystwyth, offering stays for people “working to change the world” to help cope with stress.
Noddfa Dawel retreat centre, a not-for-profit retreat, is aimed at providing support and breaks for activists and public sector workers such as teachers, medical staff and carers.
A crowdfunding site has been set up aiming to raise £3,000 to meet some early costs of setting up the retreat, including new bedding, insurance and some repairs to the building, as well as offering some assistance for people who may not be able to afford the cost of the retreat.
Ru Raynor, an activist in London, is one of the people behind setting up the retreat and said it was hoped that it could help people suffering from stress and burnout to relax and recharge.
Ru said: “I was part of the activist scene in London for three years and in that time I’ve seen many good people overwhelmed by the pressures and give up their passion.
“It’s not just activists we hope to help, but anyone who is working to change the world and suffering with stress, such as teachers and front line medical staff.
“We’re in a beautiful location with so much nature around and we really hope this, along with good food, peace and quiet, and a break from responsibilities can help heal those who need it.”
