TRIBUTES have been paid to a successful Fairbourne cyclist who passed away last weekend after “living life to the full”.
Gil Taylor, 83, lost his battle to cancer in the early hours of Sunday morning in Dolgellau Hospital after many years of athletic and social achievement.
Mr Taylor spent the last few weeks of his life supported by his daughter Vikki Fremont who travelled over from France to be with him.
Rembering her father, Vikki fondly recalls: “He was always so active, so full of life.
“When his time came he was happy to go, he’d lived such a wonderful life - he passed away satisfied, what more can anyone ask?
“It wasn’t really a ‘battle’ with cancer at the end. He refused any treatment and accepted his time had come. It was very dignified.”
Following his death, Mr Taylor’s daughter took comfort in looking through her father’s possessions and keepsakes.
“I just look at his wardrobe and smile,” she said.
“It’s so colourful, so joyful, it’s just him.
Mr Taylor’s funeral will take place on Monday, 8 August at Aberystwyth crematorium at midday.
