TRIBUTES have poured in for an Aberystwyth hotelier, restaurateur and father-of-three who died suddenly at the weekend.

Mike Fisher, 67, who owned the Cambrian Hotel and Le Figaro, is understood to have passed away after collapsing while walking his dogs at Tanybwlch beach at around 10am on Sunday.

Mike, who lived in Rhydyfelin, leaves behind his wife Jayne, and their three children Lisa, Sian and Simon, as well as a number of grandchildren.

A family statement read: “Mike’s family would like to thank everyone for their love and condolences during this difficult time.

“The help and support of Bronglais Hospital and the emergency services has been invaluable. Thank you for everything.”

Speaking to the Cambrian News this week, the university football club paid tribute to a “gentleman” who would do all he could to help.

Mike is known to have sponsored several university sports teams and societies.

Tributes were also paid on social media following an announcement on the Cambrian Hotel Facebook page.

Emma Beenham said: “My heartfelt thoughts are with the Fisher family today. Mike, you were an absolute gentleman, a fantastic friend and a wonderful businessman.

“Your family and personality have always been at the heart of everything you’ve done in this town, and you will be very much missed.

“You will always be a big part of Aber and of many of our lives and memories.”
