TRIBUTES have been paid to a 56-year-old Lampeter dad-of-four who died in a motorcycle accident near Temple Bar on Saturday afternoon.

Ricky Rees is thought to have been returning home from his job as a process worker at Felinfach’s Sensient factory when his bike was involved in a collision with a red Ford Transit at around 4.30pm as he headed towards Lampeter along the A482.

Lampeter councillor Hag Harris said everyone in the town was shocked at the news.

“Ricky was a very popular man,” he said. “He was quite a character with a lovely personality who had many friends.

“He was very likeable and someone who was very highly thought of locally.

“It’s a tragedy for his family and, in particular, for his children.

“We do not know what the circumstances of this accident were at this stage, but every time I travel that road - and I travel it almost daily - I cannot help reflecting on the number of fatalities that have occurred on this stretch between Lampeter and Aberaeron, which I find terribly sad.”
