TRIBUTES have been paid to a former Aberystwyth man who died suddenly at the age of just 28.
Ian Ferguson, described by family and friends as a “gifted and talented musician” who was “loved by everyone” passed away on Wednesday, 21 September, in Cardiff where he had started studying architecture at Metropolitan University.
Ian, a former pupil of Ysgol Penweddig in Aberystwyth, who spent time living in the town as well as Llanelli, was a member of five-piece rock outfit The Infamous.
Bandmate Rhydian Davies, who met Ian at Penweddig school where they learned to play guitar together, said Ian was “impossible to dislike”.
“He literally made friends with everyone where ever he went,” he said.
“When you were around him there was never an awkward silence.
“He always had time for you, a great sense of humour and a really good laugh to be around.
“A true rocker with a great stage presence.
“He was impossible to miss, and instantly recognisable.”
The Infamous were formed in Llanelli while at Coleg Sir Gâr and continued when members moved back to Aberystwyth.
The band has gigged across the UK and internationally.
A Facebook page ‘Remembering Ian’ has seen tributes flood in from friends and loved ones with may sharing stories and pictures of Ian.
Stencils remembering Ian as ‘God’ have sprung up all around Aberystwyth as friends celebrate his life.
