THREE members of a Llanfair Clydogau family have raised £2,000 for the Aneurin Bevan Health Trust Special Baby Care Unit at the Royal Gwent and Nevill Hall hospitals after completing a 50-mile charity walk from Brecon to Newport.

Rhian Lewis-Davies, her sister Sioned Lewis and cousin Kate Carrie were showing their appreciation for the way both hospitals cared for little Rose Lewis-Wallace, who was born 10 weeks premature with two bleeds on her brain.

Rose – who now lives in Scotland with mum and dad Iain and Nia - is Rhian and Sioned’s niece and was christened in Llanfair Clydogau where her grandparents still live.

The trio had originally set their sights on a fundraising target of £750, but in the end were “really pleased” to raise exactly £2,000.

“We are extremely grateful to everyone who supported us in this very worthy cause,” said Rhian.
