TRUSTEES have moved to allay fresh fears over the future of cash-strapped Cardigan Swimming Pool.

The pool secured a potential lifeline of £12,500 in October from the M&S Energy Fund to install solar PV in order to slash running costs, but a town councillor has expressed alarm over an apparent lack of progress.

Town councillor Dai Brabrook has told colleagues that he has been continually questioned by townspeople worried about what was happening.

“I still get people asking me every day what is going on there. I have been told the solar panels have not yet been put on the roof,” he said. “There have been adverts on Facebook for jobs and I understand a lot of staff have left. People are asking me every day what is going on.”

Now the trustees have issued a statement expressing “disappointment” that Cllr Brabrook made his comments without approaching them or the staff.

“We would have been very happy to show him all the progress we have made, and answered any questions directly,” they said.

They said the solar panels were due to be installed next month, and there has been “many improvements” at the facility.
