In this dire situation of increasing world temperatures causing rising sea levels and more intense storms you would think that wastage of electrical power would be one of the first things to be dealt with.
I have not heard of any government edicts on this subject and this leads to the general idea that it is not an important problem.
To the general public the most easily visible example of this wastage is lighting.Several times I have been into the council offices in Aberystwyth to tell them about street lighting that is on during the daytime often for many months and eventually they do get turned off.
Another example is Tesco in Aberystwyth which has had lights on during daylight hours since at least February on the path that leads out of the car park towards Trefechan bridge.
I have been to see the managers three times to tell them about this but nothing happens. It shouldn’t be up to me to have to do this!
The effects of reducing emissions from wasted energy could be felt immediately, buying us much needed time to tackle some of the harder measures that society will inevitably have to face.
