Cyclists from across Ceredigion will unite in a mammoth fundraising ride in August and will cycle from Tregaron to the Eisteddfod Maes in Llanrwst.

The two-day event, organised by Clwb Seiclo Caron, is being held to raise funds for the National Eisteddfod when it comes to Tregaron in 2020.

The event will begin at 9am on Saturday, 3 August, when cyclists will ride an 80-mile route beginning at Tregaron Square and travelling around towns in Ceredigion before finishing at Aberystwyth.

Then, on Sunday, 4 August, the ride will begin at Aberystwyth Bandstand at 8am and cover 70 miles to Llanrwst.

Each cyclist will get a limited edition Ceredigion Eisteddfod jersey and there will be a celebratory presentation for the cyclists on Llwyfan y Maes at the Eisteddfod on Sunday afternoon.

Gwion James, chair of Caron Cycling Club, said: “We’ve had a fantastic response to the ride and are privileged that so many active cycling clubs meet on a regular basis within Ceredigion.

“It will be a great opportunity to get our clubs and individual riders together, and we hope to raise a worthy amount for the National Eisteddfod held in Tregaron in 2020. Anyone can join us for one or both days and the amount raised will go to your local fund.”
