A MORFA Bychan kennels owner has been left devastated after her tumble dryer caught fire, killing two of her beloved dogs.

Firefighters were called to Tyn y Dref Kennels and Cattery just after 7pm on Thursday, 16 June where two outbuildings on the site were engulfed in flames.

Sue Williams, who runs the kennels, fought desperately to get into the burning buildings to rescue her four dogs, but sadly two were unable to be saved.

Following an investigation, fire crews from Porthmadog and Harlech believe the blaze began in the tumble dryer which was situated in within the outbuildings.

Mrs Williams, who has been left devastated by the loss of her two pets, a German Shepherd and a Czechoslovakian Wolfdog, described the scenes as a “nightmare”.

She said: “I had been out walking the dogs and put them in the outbuildings to let them dry off.

“I put the tumble dryer on and then 15 minutes later the flames started.

“I ran towards the buildings and managed to get in and get two of the German Shepherds out, but sadly the other two didn’t come out.

“I am completely devastated, my whole life is about dogs and I’m so upset to have lost two of my pets.

“What happened seems such a blur, but it was so frightening and the flames were so high in the sky, it really was a nightmare.”
