A MOTORIST escaped serious injury after a car left the road on the A487 near the Dyfi Osprey Project between Aberystwyth and Machynlleth during wintry conditions today, Friday.

The black Ford Fusion left the road at around 6.40am and was the only vehicle involved in the incident.

A police spokesperson said: “Police attended a single vehicle road traffic collision which occurred at approximately 6.40am on 4 March on the A487 between Machynlleth and Glandyfi.

“The driver of a black Ford Fusion received minor injuries when the vehicle left the road.”

A fellow motorist driving on the A487 shortly after the incident described the conditions as “icy” with snow falling during the morning across Powys and Ceredigion.

• In a separate crash less than an hour later, a pedestrian was taken to hospital following a crash that saw the A485 closed for 90 minutes between Llanilar and Lledrod.

The two-vehicle crash saw police and an ambulance crew attend the scene near Llanilar shortly after 7.30am. The road was closed after the crash, but reopened just after 9am.

A police spokesperson said: “Police attended a road traffic collision which occurred at approximately 7.35am on Friday, 4 March on the A485 near Llanilar.

“Two vehicles and a pedestrian were involved in the collision. The pedestrian was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment. The road was fully reopened shortly after 9am.”

The ambulance service confirmed a casualty had been taken to Bronglais Hospital.

A spokesperson said: “We were called shortly after 7.30am to a road traffic collision in the Lledrod area of Aberystwyth. We sent a crew in an emergency ambulance to the scene. One person was taken to Bronglais General Hospital.”
