TYWYN catering students got a taste for cooking thanks to a workshop at an Aberdyfi restaurant.Ysgol Uwchradd Tywyn’s Year 11 catering group visited the kitchen of the Sea Breeze restaurant, where they were given a workshop demonstration in preparing fish and a tasting session. Tom Webb, the assistant chef, demonstrated the filleting and skinning of fish. Henry Severn-Benson, sous chef, cooked and presented three mouth-watering fish dishes: Moules marinière; pan fried scallops with pea purée and slow cooked belly of pork served with rocket and pan fried sea bass with lemon, served with samphire.
A spokesperson for the school said: “The students thoroughly enjoyed the visit, especially the tasting elements and also the advice given on presenting meals.“Thanks to Mr and Mrs Hinton, the owners, for a very warm welcome again this year. “It was also a pleasure to see two former Ysgol Uwchradd catering students, who went on to study catering at college, progressing in their careers in a local well-established restaurant.”
