Madam,
I was pleased to read your report of the “glowing” tribute paid to Aberdyfi by The Sunday Times as a desirable all-year-round residence for those with deep pockets.
Local estate agents must be even more pleased.
However, it surely owes much of its utopian appeal to its location in a stunningly beautiful area of mid Wales and its proximity to towns such as Machynlleth, Dolgellau, Aberystwyth and Barmouth which provide extensive additional facilities and cultural attractions. Above all, Aberdyfi benefits from its closeness to its neighbour Tywyn which replicates, and indeed shares, all of Aberdyfi’s listed delights with the addition of two supermarkets, a library, schools, cottage hospital and health centre and its comprehensive leisure centre, leisure park and skate park. Alongside Tywyn’s famous Talyllyn Railway, the state-of-the-art cinema continues to attract national attention.
Tywyn has a rich, complex history and has recently been awarded a Lottery grant to create a town trail and town walk leaflets. With its unparalleled inland and coastal views, cultural attractions and its thriving clubs, Tywyn equally deserves the accolade of “a special place to live”.
Yours etc,
Liz Deakin, Corbett Avenue, Tywyn.
