THIS is the first picture of a cottage by the side of the A487 in Chancery, near Aberystwyth, which has been left with a massive hole in the exterior wall after a vehicle smashed into it.

It was hit at such force that the interior of the house can be seen.

The incident, combined with ongoing roadworks in the village, caused severe delays this morning for commuters.

The wall has been sectioned off by barriers.

It is not known at this stage how the incident occurred or if there has been any injuries.

The accident happened near to where there was a serious two-car crash last week.
