A HENLLAN woman says she is being forced to install CCTV cameras on her land because she is so fed up with walkers not respecting a public footpath.

Last week, Diana Lewes Gale’s cattle again escaped over damaged fencing and she feels she had no choice but to take matters further.

The land at Cae Cadw, located opposite the old Prisoner of War Camp near Henllan Bridge, is part of the family Llysnewydd estate, and has been in the family for centuries.

Walkers use the footpath daily, but Diana says a minority don’t adhere to the country code and this has caused the family serious work, worry and distress.

Diana said: “We kindly ask that all dog owners please keep dogs on leads and stick to the path. Dogs are left off the lead and disturb our livestock, and CCTV cameras will be installed. Unfortunately the livestock fence has been cut in two locations due to a minority of walkers not wanting to carry dogs over the stile. This has resulted in cows breaking out onto the road. We are most definitely not against the footpath users we just want them to be aware of their actions.”

She said her family welcomes walkers to use the footpaths on the family farm as long as they respect the animals and the fences.
