BEULAH - The story of a Ceredigion village and its people has been seven years in the making and author Gerwyn Morgan is overjoyed to see the 400-page book finally in print.
The book traces the history of the rural village of Beulah as well as its neighbouring old parishes of Betws Ifan, Troedyraur, Bryngwyn and Llandygwydd - the farms, schools, businesses and people since the Iron Age and is a wealth of knowledge and history.
Gerwyn self-published his first bilingual book, Beulah Remembers, last year, and even though he spent months upon months researching its content, this new book has seen Gerwyn spending long spells at the Ceredigion Record Office and the National Library of Wales.
Old copies of the Tivyside also helped his research as well as chapel and school reports and the eight year battle to open a school in Beulah in 1917.
“I decided to write the book following a photograph exhibition at the vestry several years ago. There were more than 700 old photographs of Beulah and its people on display and this encouraged me to go ahead and start writing. There wasn’t a book written on its history and this book will fill a gap,” said Gerwyn.
