A HUGE £2,500 has been raised in memory of a popular Rhosfawr carpenter who sadly died as he came off stage after performing at his local eisteddfod.
Llewelyn Wyn Jones, 74, died after suffering a heart attack during Eisteddfod Y Ffôr in April this year.
Paramedics were called to the eisteddfod after Mr Jones became unconscious but were unable to revive him.
His daughter, Nia Jones, said her father’s death came as a huge shock.
She said: “My father was a huge part of the eisteddfod in Y Ffôr.
"He competed every year and had been making the chair for the event for several years.
“He loved singing and being part of the eisteddfod. It was a shock to everyone when he passed away.”
Following Mr Jones’ death, the family decided to begin raising funds to help install a defibrillator in the Llyn village.
Nia said: “As a family we wanted to give something back to the community and, after what happened with my father, we believed a defibrillator would be a good piece of equipment to have in the area.
“We would like to thank everyone who has donated towards our cause, we are extremely grateful.”
