NEARLY 5,000 miles were walked by supporters of Gafael Llaw in their efforts to walk the world in seven days.
Over 500 people joined in the challenge, which was equivalent to walking from Caernarfon to Delhi in India, which raised about £6,000 for the charity.
The challenge was launched on 13 August with a successful event to walk up Snowdon, and finished with a 10k Moonlight Walk in Caernarfon on 19 August which attracted over 200 people. This event saw Caernarfon Castle lit up in the colours of Gafael Llaw.
Iwan Trefor Jones, Gafael Llaw chairman, said: “This was a huge effort on behalf of many people in the region, and I would like to thank all those who took part in the challenge and in so doing, helping us as a charity to raise money to support the care of children with cancer in the area.
“The Walk the World challenge was also a huge success in raising awareness about the charity, and we will build on this in the coming months.”
