An Aberaeron couple have raised over £4,000 with the help of supporters for the centre that is helping their young daughter, who has cerebral palsy.
Sera-Jane Thomas and Pete Rogers decided they wanted to help raise vital money for the Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre, which has been offering support and advice to help their young daughter Clara.
The centre, which is based in Cardiff, offers help, support and advice for parents of youngsters with cerebral palsy.
This support includes things like teaching parents the best way to help avoid any issues with posture, and Sera-Jane said the centre had helped the family massively.
Sera-Jane and Pete arranged a special Welly Walk at Llanerchaeron in October with more than 50 people taking part in a six-kilometre walk, but family and friends have also raised funds with Sera-Jane’s brother and friends in the community also helping to raise money for the centre.
While Sera-Jane said there is no final total yet, she said so far over £4,000 has been raised, far exceeding the initial target of £250.
She said: “We reached £4,000 so it is just over that.
“Also the Cadwgan pub in Aberaeron held a quiz night and all proceeds went to Bobath.
“They raised a total of £155 and this wasn’t included in the Welly Walk total, but I’d love them to have a thank you.
“We’ve just completed another session at Bobath Wales in Cardiff and it really is such a special place for us now and I can see it being an important part of our lives for a long time.”
