Madam,
I cannot believe the letter written by E Roberts of Pwllheli regarding the closure of public toilets (‘Not amused by toilet closure rumours’, last week’s Cambrian News). Where has E Roberts been over the past few months? These toilet closures have been reported on many occasions and indeed Cllr Louise Hughes has worked tirelessly in opposing these closures long before the vote was taken. The closures and other very important issues were discussed at Gwynedd Council in meetings with councillors, not at Cardiff. The vote was then taken at Gwynedd Council offices, not Cardiff. Furthermore, it was Gwynedd Council which chose which services to cut (not Cardiff) and the recommendations were agreed at full council in Caernarfon on 3 March by Gwynedd councillors. I was present at the full council meeting when this was happening and I can assure you there were a lot more motions affecting us all that were given approval that day. Where were you, Mr Roberts, and everyone else who is now finding time to write and complain about the cuts and challenges we now face.
Yours etc
O Jean Thomas
Llanfair.
