Madam,

The news that Cardigan’s historic Market Hall is to receive £1.7m funding is most welcome.

For the market investment to be a long-term success obviously requires extra tourism. Therefore, why on earth has the council not pushed for improved road signage?

About 12 years ago, I mentioned in the press that Cardigan was not sign-posted on the extremely busy Pensarn Roundabout in Carmarthen.

The word 'Cardigan' would obviously market a whole county.

The eastern Carmarthen bypass was built decades ago to serve Ceredigion, yet the only name on the signposts is Llandeilo, to take traffic back towards England! Nowhere in Ceredigion is even mentioned!

A government minister opened an “improved route” from Carmarthen to Synod Inn last year, with no Ceredigion signage at the southern end.

Why not use brown signs for major tourist attractions? With authorities manufacturing their own signs, I doubt it would cost £20,000 in total.

Yours etc,

L J Jenkins, Gwbert, Cardigan.
