As regular readers will know, Barmouth historian Hugh Roberts has a brilliant collection of photographs of the town and the surrounding area.
Contributions to this page have included a number of images recently, including Barmouth’s cricket team from 1959-60 and residents of the town visiting the National Eisteddfod in 1950.
Now the avid collector of historical images has sent another image in to Timewatch and we would like readers to tell us more about it – if they can.
Dated 17 September, 1906, a handwritten line on the front of the photograph says ‘Asserting right of way over estuary walk-Bontddu’.
But what does that mean?
And who are the people in the picture ‘asserting right of way’?
And what of the second photograph? We’re still hoping to hear from readers about the people in this picture.
Hugh knows that they were residents of Barmouth going to the Caerffili National Eisteddfod in 1950, but do you know any of the names of the people in the picture?
If you do, or if you have any information about the Bontddu photograph, please write to Julie McNicholls Vale, Timewatch, Cambrian News, 7 Aberystwyth Science Park, Aberystwyth, Ceredigion SY23 3AH, or email [email protected]
