Madam,

Quentin Deakin’s excellent suggestion of a regular, throughout the day and evening, bus relay between Tywyn and Aberystwyth has my whole-hearted support.

It is clear that such a service, to and from the major hospitals to which people living in the Gwynedd towns can be referred, so that both patients and their visitors can get there and back conveniently, should be rolled out across the county.

Having lived in Llangelynnin for two years or so, I know how difficult it is for the people in Arthog, in Fairbourne and in Llwyngwril to travel conveniently to and fro Aberystwyth.

Expanding the Number 28 service between Dolgellau and Tywyn to an hourly bus, and until somewhat later than the current cut-off time of just after two in the afternoon, would make life so much more con-venient for residents in those little towns - and so much better still for patients and visitors, often older people, to Aberystwyth Bronglais Hospital if the proposed hourly service to and from Tywyn and the hospital comes into operation.

For that expansion would give an option other than catching the infrequent T2 out of Dolgellau - and being able to return later than 3pm, the T2 current shut-down time! These proposals are ones community-conscious bus companies would jump at providing, surely?

They are the sorts of services surely best provided by electic vehicles, perhaps minibuses, taking advantage of what should be Gwynedd’s enormous outputs of green energy, and so avoiding Brexit fuel price hikes.

Yours etc,

Ian MacIntyre, Shelbourne Court, St John’s Hill, Barmouth.
