A former Aberystwyth woman is appealing for help after being “devastated” over losing a brooch with “great sentimental value” which belonged to her late husband.

Julie Hall, a native of Aberystwyth who now lives in Saltburn by the Sea in north Yorkshire, was visiting the town on 6 November to attend the funeral of Jimmy Clements - a great friend of her father, also from Aberystwyth.

“I was wearing a gold tiepin brooch on my birthday which belonged to my late husband Crawford Patterson Hall, a musician in the Welsh Guards for 24 years, who is now resting in Llanbadarn Fawr cemetery with my father Vincent Evans,” Julie told the Cambrian News.

“Unfortunately when I got home I realised it had dropped off my dress and am obviously devastated.

“I was staying at Nanteos Mansion hotel and visited the cemetery that morning and went into Aberystwyth before returning home, stopping at the Rhug Estate shop on the way.

“I have contacted all the places I visited to no avail.”

Mrs Hall did not have a photograph of the brooch, but said it was a gold bar brooch with a little swallow on which her husband bought from the Jewellery House in Aberystwyth on one of their frequent trips back to the town.
