A LLYN woman’s phone “probably saved her life” at last week’s terrorist atrocity in Manchester.

Lisa Bridgett, of Mynytho, suffered an array of horrific injuries after she was caught up in the suicide bombing at an Ariana Grande concert last Monday, which saw 22 people lose their life, and nearly 60 more injured.

She was at the venue with her daughter and her daughter’s friend.

Lisa, 45, who works at Bluewater Marine in Pwllheli, lost a finger as a result of the explosion but her terrifying ordeal might have been worse were she not on her mobile phone at the time bomber Salman Abedi blew himself up.

Lisa’s husband Steve, writing on his Facebook page, wrote how his wife felt “very lucky to be alive”.

“She has suffered multiple injuries including losing the middle finger from her left hand, which was caused by a steel nut that hit her finger, then went into her phone, eventually coming to rest in her nose,” he explained.

“She has a fractured ankle caused by shrapnel, and also a large ‘bullet hole’ wound to her thigh.

“There are other cuts and bruises as you can well imagine.”

Although Lisa’s injuries were severe, her husband believes that they could have been worse.

“The fact she was on her phone at the time of the attack probably saved her life as the nut hit her phone,” Steve added.

“The phone has more than likely not only diverted the nut, but also slowed it down considerably.

“Her nose is fine as the nut entered through her cheek, so just a scar to deal with.
