MEMBERS of Penparc YFC will embark on the biggest fund-raising event in the club’s 72-year history.
Today (Thursday, 31 March), they will be undertaking a Port-to-Port Vintage Tractor Run along the A487 from Fishguard to Anglesey in order to raise vital funds for the Wales Air Ambulance as well as the club.
The event will include seven vintage tractors being driven and around 50 members, leaders and supporters walking through the villages and towns en route.
On arrival at Fishguard port the team will be greeted by Cardigan Rugby Club choir who will sing them on their way.
After the 22-mile first leg, members will stop in Penparc at 6pm for cawl and coffee to which everyone is welcome. The entry fee is £5.
The following morning, they will resume their four-day marathon.
On day two, they will travel from Penparc to Machynlleth, day three from Machynlleth to Caernarfon and day four from Caernarfon to Holyhead.
“As members, we feel really strongly about the air ambulance as we live in a rural community with major hospitals at least an hour away,” said chairperson Fflur Davies, of Hafod Farm, Ferwig.
“The Wales Air Ambulance relies totally on donations and, you never know, one day we might need to use it."
