Madam,
I see there is much activity on social media relating to the sad and very emotive subject of the death of the Borth Wild Animal Kingdom lynx.
Obviously, the whole situation needs close investigation and, if it is proven that the remaining animals are in jeopardy because of welfare and safety issues, then the situation should be rectified or the zoo should be closed.
However, the family running the zoo should at least be given the opportunity to make any necessary improvements.
The Lynx Trust UK, who are organising an online petition demanding the immediate closure of the zoo, were reported as wishing to reintroduce lynx to live in the UK.
Surely, the reaction to the escape of Lillith should ring alarm bells as to what sort of welcome the release of lynx would receive in this country.
I do wonder at the sanity and motive behind this proposal and would question what benefit any such released lynx would gain from this exercise.
Yours etc,
Sandy Neville, Cwmystwyth.
