THERE were some very encouraging performances at the Dyfed versus West Glamorgan Primary Schools Inter County match at Swansea University’s track.
All those that took part in the competition were selected after finishing in the top four at the respective Dyfed Primary Schools and West Glamorgan Primary Schools events over the past few months.
The Ceredigion contingent included Zara Evans, of Ysgol Henry Richard in Tregaron, who won gold in the long jump with a distance of 3.72 metres. Zara also finished sixth in the girls’ 100m sprint.
Ysgol Aberaeron’s Jessica Jones also won silver in the 70m hurdles in 14.0 secs, and Lee Hodges, also of Aberaeron, won bronze in the shot with a throw of 7.37.
The events included the 100m, 70m hurdles, 800m, 4 x 100 relay, long jump, shot putt and high jump, with medals being awarded to the top three in each event.
On a sunny evening, next to the Mumbles, it proved to be a good win for the strong West Glamorgan home team, to equal the series after Dyfed had collected the top spots in the cross country fixture.
