ABERAERON started their new campaign in the West Wales Conference on a winning note as they registered an eight wicket triumph at Tywyn, after the home side were dismissed for 77 all out.
Paul Hughes (3 for 8 fom 6.3 overs), Neil Snowden (3 for 16 from 8 overs) and Jacob Jenkinson (2 for 27 from 9) accounted for most of the Tywyn wickets, with Jenkinson also producing a superb run out.
Opener Callum Taylor (41) offered the only resistance of note for Tywyn, before Aberaeron marched to success courtesy of Alex Pitchford (26 not out), John Fice (27) and Chris Strange (20 not out) who ended the match in typical fashion by hammering ball clean over the boundary for a six.
Ed Hughes (1 for 27 off 6.2 overs) and Dave Jenkins (1 for 21 off 6) took wickets.
Aberystwyth Commoners opened their account with a seven wicket win at home to Talybont, who were bowled out for 84, after losing the toss and batting first.
Wickets fell to Chris Ward (3 for 25) and Ian Lawton (2 for 5), with Sojan Varghese having the most success with the bat for Talybont as he contributed 27 runs.
Skipper Rakesh Bhatia led the Commoners to a convincing success with a fine 48 runs from a winning total of 86 for 3. Vinod Matthew took 2 for 10 for Talybont.
Aberystwyth Firsts made a winning start to their new campaign as they registered a five-wicket win at the Geufron over Aberystwyth Seconds, who were all out for 163.
After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, opener Williams Steads made 14, before Ted Trewella (42) and Alwyn Davies (55 not out) ensured a competitive total.
Ceri John (3 for 12 from 7 overs) finished the innings off, after wickets had fallen to Ioan Morris (2 for 32 from 6 overs) and G Lewis (2 for 7 from 5 overs).
A captain’s knock of 51 not out from Robert Rudge got the firsts over the line, with support from G Lewis (25 not out), with Nigel Salmon (10), Dafydd Jones (11) and Zaid Kahn (10) making double figures.
Amlyn Ifans took 2 for 16 from 4.5 overs, and Osian Simpson-Jones 1 for 9 from 6 overs for the Seconds.
