Llanrwst (124 for 0) beat Dolgellau (123 for 5) by 10 wickets

DOLGELLAU continued their downward spiral to division three at Llanrwst on Saturday, defeated by 10 wickets, their bowlers being bereft of success for the last two matches.
Dolgellau posted a total of 123 for 5, spanning their 40 overs, Llanrwst took 22.1 overs to move to 124 for no loss.
Lahiru Chamil and skipper Jaco Oosthuizen started with a stand of 38 in 8 overs for the visitors until both openers departed to make it 39 for 2.
Aron Hughes produced an excellent piece of fielding, his direct hit from mid-off running out Chamil at the striker's end as the batters went for a single.
Chamil made 13 with 2 fours. One run later Oosthuizen went for 23, with a six and 3 fours, caught Caron Williams, bowled Tamal Achanjee.
It became 44 for 3 when James Clark was caught on the long-on boundary, the; same catcher and bowler as the previous wicket.
Rob Humphreys and Dyfan Hughes took it to 60 at which the former was out for 10, caught by Aron to give Tamal a third wicket.
The hosts had to wait 22 overs for another wicket, Dyfan and Phil Deane having a partnership of 54 for the 5th wicket.
In the 38th over Dyfan fell to a boundary catch by skipper Alwyn Williams off the bowling of Matt Latham, having hit 4 fours in his 24.
Deane and James Conde saw the innings out, 123 for 5, Deane being undefeated on 36 with 5 boundaries.
Tamal claimed 3 for 8 from his 6 overs, but although wicketless Alwyn Williams proved to be even more miserly, giving away just 2 runs from 8 overs, 7 of which were maidens.
Latham had 1 for 22 from 6 overs, Aron Hughes 0 for 15 from 8, Raju Ahmed 0 for 23 from 5 and Caron Williams 0 for 50 from 7 overs.
After the break the Llanrwst openers Caron Williams and Aled Hughes accumulated runs steadily and despite some confident appeals for dismissal their partnership remained intact advancing to a winning 124 for 0 in 22.1 overs.
Both batters made an undefeated half century and both struck 7 fours.
Caron took 50 balls for his fifty, being 53 not out from 57 deliveries, while Aled's fifty was from 78 balls, finshing on 52 not out. Dolgellau used 6 bowlers, the most economical being Oosthuizen's 8 overs for 23 runs.
