Pwllheli (212) lost to Northop (213 for 3) by 7 wkts

PWLLHELI welcomed in-form Northop on a fine, sunny day for their North Wales Premier Division encounter, but after posting 212 all out, the visitors made hay by reaching their target for the loss of just three wickets.

Northop had won the toss and they asked the Pen Llyn side to bat first on a very good Parc Bodegroes track.

Several of the home batsmen got themselves set, but only captain Morgan Murray-Williams, batting at number four, went on to post a big score, hitting 69 runs, with a total of 8 boundaries.

Jack Metcalfe with 33, Tristan Coetzee with 30 and Craig Edwards with 26 were the other main home scorers.

Bowlers Andy Poynton (3 for 63) and Tom Blackwell (3 for 36) grabbed the wickets .

The final total of 212 was always well below par and so it proved as Northop raced to victory with 10 overs to spare, losing only 3 wickets.

After Alex Gill was caught by Lawrance Barraclough from the bowling of Ioan Roberts for 6, opener Darren Williams went on to score 70, with 9 fours and 3 sixes.

Ammar Mahmood at number three gave good support as he scored 63, with 10 fours and 2 sixes, before he was caught by Tristan Coetzee from the bowling of Kartik Bhardwaj to make it 100 for 2.

The score had reached 154 when opener Williams was bowled by Syed Kaleem Aslam, but Tom Blackwell was on his way to a quick undefeated 48 runs, with 4 fours and a six, with support from Ben Beaver, 18 not out.

Northop claimed 13 points to move into fifth place in the table whilst Pwllheli remain in mid-table in eighth after picking up two points. Match ball sponsors were Afonwen Laundry and Linen Hire.

Denbigh 2nds (67 for 2) beat Pwllheli 2nds (65 for 9)

MID-TABLE Pwllheli Seconds travelled to top-of-the-table Denbigh Seconds for their North Wales division three game and were comprehensively beaten when bowled out for only 65 runs.

Opener Neil Williams made 14 and Gareth Rhys Morgan made 12, but they were the only Pwllheli batsmen to make double figures as Ifan Jones (2 for 16), Archie Sussex (2 for 20) and Stuart Griffiths (3 for 9) took wickets.

The home side raced to victory only losing two wickets.

John Eccles made 12 and Chris Brown 10, before Peter Lloyd hit 3 fours and 3 sixes in his unbeaten 36 as victory was seured inside 10 overs.

This Saturday PwllheliFirsts face a difficult game at far-away Gresford, whilst the Seconds welcome St Asaph Seconds on Saturday and Mynydd Isa on Monday.
