Hawarden Park (89) lost to Pwllheli (92 for 5) by 5 wkts
PWLLHELI’s bowlers totally decimated Hawarden Park’s batting line-up at Parc Bodegroes as the visitors were bowled all out for just 89 in the North Wales League Premier Division.
All-rounder Jason Underwood led the way as he returned 4 wickets for 19, before scoring 24 runs in Pwllheli’s five-wicket win.
Hawarden Park, despite sitting in the relegation places, were fresh from a convincing nine wicket win at Chirk, and when they won the toss, captain Ian Martin elected to bat first.
On another sunny day, however, the Flintshire side were soon struggling and could only muster a tame 89 all out from 32 overs.
Sean Reilly (3 wickets for just 13 runs) and Morgan Murray Williams (3 for 33) made short work of the top order, before Jason Underwood (4 for 19) cleaned up the tail with his leg-spin.
Jared Bennett top scored for the visitors with an undefeated 22, with opener Craig Wilson (13) and Santhosh Nanakumar (10) the only other visiting batsmen to make double figures.
Pwllheli, however, didn’t find it easy in chasing down their target and they had a few early scares when losing wickets, mainly to Ian Martin, who grabbed 3 victims for 17 runs from his 10 overs of slow bowling.
They were eventually guided home by an assured knock from youngster Owen Reilly (15 not out), after opener Underwood (24), Murray Williams (22) and Sean Reilly (14) had also contributed to the chase.
The home side finished on 92 for 5 from 34 overs to secure victory, to keep them in sixth place in the table.
This weekend Pwll travel to seventh-placed Denbigh in the hope of a repeat of their win in the reverse fixture at Parc Bodegroes.
