ABERYSTWYTH Town have closed a busy transfer window with the deadline day signing of Aaron Pomeyie, along with confirming the loan move of local lad Richie Ricketts to Penrhyncoch.
Talented winger Pomeyie has joined the Seasiders from Llandudno, having previously played for Rhyl in the Welsh Premier League, as well as Holywell Town, Buckley Town, Morecambe, Runcorn and Cammel Laird.
The 23 year old Liverpudlian, who began his fledgling career as a member of the Reds’ academy, has impressed the Aber management team whilst training.
Meanwhile young Llanfarian-based winger Richie Ricketts has moved on to JD Cymru North club Penrhyncoch on loan until the end of the season, whilst remaining contracted to the Seasiders until the end of 2020/21.
The 17 year-old, still in school at Ysgol Penweddig, has made a positive impression in his 10 Cymru Premier appearances to date for Aber, and is expected to rejoin the Seasiders at the end of April.
“Everyone at the club welcomes Aaron to Park Avenue, and wishes Richie all the best on loan with Penrhyn,” confirmed a club spokesman.
“Aron has been training with Aberystwyth, and has impressed the management team enough to earn himself a place in Town’s squad for the remainder of the season.
“Richie will bolster Penrhyn’s attacking options for the remainder of the season, before returning to the Seasiders at the end of April.”
Other new additions at Park Avenue are midfield prospect James Rowland, on loan from League One club Shrewsbury Town, and striker Adam Davies, from JD Cymru North outfit Guilsfield.
Aber had already strengthened with four January signings, including Alhagi Touray Sisay, Ilan Hughes, Pavel Vieira and David Thompson.
Meanwhile the Seasiders have parted comany with both Joe Phillips and Ryan Edwards, with the Aber management’s best wishes.
Phillips has moved back to Midlands-based Alvechurch, whilst Edwards was released to sign for Cymru Premier rivals Newtown before the end of the transfer window.
Phillips, whose father Mark has been a loyal supporter of the Seasiders, scored eight goals in 72 appearances over two spells at Park Avenue, and was a member of Aber’s Welsh Cup Final side of 2018.
Edwards meanwhile made 47 appearances for Aber in midfield over two seasons, scoring a memorable strike at Airbus UK Broughton.
“We’d like to thank both for their services, and wish them all the best for the future,” said a club spokesman.
“Joe’s most memorable moment was surely the perfect hat-trick he scored at home to Connah’s Quay in January 2018, whilst Ryan will be remembered for his skilful bursts from midfield, as well as the unique dancing skills he displayed after Aber’s win at Cardiff Met in 2018.”
Adam Hughes and Tom Price’s loan periods came to an end as planned, and both have returned to their parent clubs, The New Saints and Swansea City respectively.
Meanwhile Alex Boss and Steff Edwards were also freed from their registrations at Aberystwyth to join Bangor City and Cefn Druids.
The Seasiders will start the second phase of their JD Cymru Premier campaign at Cardiff Met on Saturday
