ABERYSTWYTH Town manager Ian Hughes was delighted with the way his side had bounced back from a 3-0 Welsh Cup defeat to The New Saints to claim a battling 1-1 draw on their return to Park Hall in the league last Friday.
Despite conceding an early goal by Matty Williams, Aberystwyth rallied well, with a superb second half strike from Chris Venables, for his eighth league goal of the season, earning the Seasiders a very well-deserved point.
The Seasiders, who saw their rearranged home match against Carmarthen Town postponed in midweek, are five points adrift of a top six spot, but with games in hand on those sides above them.
After a tough run of three successive away matches in the league, Hughes is now looking for his side to make the most of home advantage - with five of their last six matches before the league split being at Park Avenue.
The Seasiders play hosts to Bangor City on Saturday, and will be heartened by their 3-2 win at Nantporth in September - before then taking on bottom club Haverfordwest in a festive double-header, away on Boxing Day and then at home on New Year’s Day.
The Seasiders were boosted by the return of defender Lee Surman from suspension, and Jack Rimmer from illness last Friday, and they can also welcome back loan striker Jamie Reed, after being unable to play against his registered club in the past fortnight.
