ABERYSTWYTH Town made it three wins out of three with a 3-1 win at Porthmadog on the weekend as the Seasiders continue their pre-season preparations ahead of their Dafabet Welsh Premier League opener at The New Saints on 14 August.
Matthew Bishop’s side eased their way to victory at the Cymru Alliance side thanks goals from two trialists and Joe Clarke, while Jamie McDaid netted for the hosts.
Despite a change of formation and personnel, the Black and Greens looked comfortable from the off as Geoff Kellaway tested his range early one, only to see his effort go wide of the mark.
But Aber were soon in front as Cledan Davies played a brilliant ball down the left for Kellaway to cross with one of the Seasiders’ two trialists finishing at the near post with just six minutes played.
Keen to make an impression on Bishop and his staff, the goal scorer saw two headed efforts saved before summer signing Luke Borelli fired over.
Porthmadog weren’t without threat as Griff Williams sent a warning shot just wide, but it was no surprise as Aber’s class showed and their lead was doubled on the half-hour mark.
