ABERYSTWYTH University were left to reflect on missed chances, despite clawing their way back from a two-goal deficit, as they earned a 2-2 draw at Abermule in the Spar Mid Wales League division two.
On a heavy, boggy pitch, the students conceded goals at the start and end of the first half, before salvaging a battling point through Tom Spicer and Tristan Harris.
The draw still saw them move up to seventh in the table, two points adrift of Abermule, and they will be looking to continue their climb at home to Four Crosses.
Goals from Adam Williams and David Anthony had put Mule in charge at the interval, but the University then came out for the second period with real purpose.
After bombarding the home defence, they finally reduced the arrears on 70 minutes when Spicer smashed home a corner from substitute Henry Nicholson.
Five minutes later, they were level, when Harris fired home into the bottom corner after some good footwork in the penalty box, for his third goal in three matches.
The students had chances to return with all three points, but it was not to be their day, with Ali Palmer firing over in the last minute after the ball had bobbled awkwardly on the heavy playing surface.
At the top of the table, leaders Kerry moved six points clear of second-placed Borth United as they eased to a 7-1 win over Builth Wells at Dolforgan Park.
The prolific Luke Mumford led the way with a sensational double hat-trick, having latched onto a soft pass to open the scoring just six minutes into the game.
A minute later, he rounded the keeper for his second goal, and then made it 3-0 on 10 minutes when he picked the ball up on the halfway line and charged past three defenders to fire into the bottom corner.
Mark Hughes then tapped home to make it 4-0, before Huw McGrath broke down the right to set up Mumford on a plate for his fourth goal of the game.
McGrath went one-on-one with the Builth keeper before unselfishly squaring to Mumford to make it 6-0, and the Man of the Match added his sixth goal on 51 minutes following a scramble in the box.
A speculative long range effort by Dave Thomas caught home keeper Ollie Jones off guard as Builth grabbed a consolation late on, but the game was already over.
Elsewhere two goals from Llyr Thomas and a Tom Foulkes effort earned Dyffryn Banw a pleasing 3-2 home triumph against Newbridge, with Alfie Stonefield and Aeron Powell netting for the visitors.
