ABERYSTWYTH Town manager Ian Hughes is looking for his side to build on their excellent 4-0 win over Bangor City when they travel to face Haverfordwest County on Boxing Day.
Two goals from Chris Venables and further strikes from the returning Geoff Kellaway and Jamie Reed earned them a convincing win last Saturday, and they are looking to build their momentum at Bridge Meadow.
“We’re getting stronger, we’ve got players rediscovering their form, and we’ve got players back from injury,” Aber manager Ian Hughes told atfc.org.uk. "With all our players in we’ve got a hell of a team. The players we’ve got at this club are excellent.
"The performance against Bangor from start to finish was excellent. Even in the first half, where we didn’t score any goals, we were dominant.
"We scored four goals, and we could have scored more. We hit the bar three times, and created numerous chances. That’s helped to improve our goal difference, which is vital given that it’s such a tight league."
With five games to go until the league split, the Seasiders are five points adrift of sixth-placed Newtown, with a game in hand.
The return of loan striker Jamie Reed, who missed the previous two games against The New Saints, and Geoff Kellaway from injury, are a major most for the Seasiders.
Meanwhile Aberystwyth were frustrated in midweek when their rearranged match at home against Carmarthen Town was postponed for a third time, after failing a pitch inspection on Tuesday. The game has now been rescheduled for next Tuesday, 29 December.
