ABERYSTWYTH Town’s managerial team of Matthew Bishop and Wayne Jones will get to see their new-look squad in action in their first pre-season friendly fixture at Cymru Alliance Champions Caernarfon Town this Saturday (2.30pm).

Their opponents romped to the Cymru Alliance title last season, and were only denied promotion into the Welsh Premier League because of the failure to achieve the necessary Domestic Licence. It promises to be a good work-out for the Seasiders, who will be taking a closer look at several new signings, as well as a number of trialists as Bishop and Jones look to finalise their squad. The latest player to sign for Aber’s youthful new squad is defender Will Bell, who left Bala Town last month.

Midfielder Jonathan Evans has also returned from Penrhyncoch for his third spell at Park Avenue, whilst new signings Kostya Georgievsky and Joe Clarke have joined from Port Talbot.

Luke Borelli and Sam Rodon, Greg Walters and Ricky Watts have meanwhile followed assistant boss Jones to Park Avenue from Haverfordwest County.

Geoff Kellaway, Luke Sherbon, Cledan Davies and Jac Rimmer are the key players who have remained, despite the majority of last season’s squad leaving.

Caernarfon meanwhile welcomed Glantraeth to the Oval on Tuesday for their third friendly fixture in five days, and they turned on the style in patches to defeat the Anglesey side 6-2.

Manager Iwan Williams was also encouraged by a 5-0 win over Llanfairpwll in midweek, following on from a tough 4-1 defeat to Salford City last weekend.

Aberystwyth Town supporters are informed that there is no coach running to the game, and kick off at the Oval is at 2.30pm.
