LLANILAR Reserves climbed to the top of the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth League with an emphatic 6-2 victory over Tywyn Bryncrug Reserves on Saturday.

Playing their first game for several weeks, Llanilar shrugged off difficult conditions and took control from the outset. Tomos Benjamin opened the scoring after 11 minutes before Jamie Dowse quickly doubled the advantage.

Tywyn responded through James Owen three minutes later, but Llanilar restored their two-goal cushion midway through the half when Daniel Dowse made it 3-1.

The visitors threatened a comeback early in the second period as Lucas Betts reduced the deficit to 3-2, but Llanilar quickly regained control. Sixteen-year-old Dylan Rogers struck five minutes later to make it 4-2 before Jamie Dowse grabbed his second goal of the afternoon to put the result beyond doubt.

Substitute Sean Bevan rounded off an impressive team display with Llanilar's sixth goal after 66 minutes.

Talybont also enjoyed a productive afternoon, hitting six goals in a convincing 6-1 victory over Machynlleth Reserves at a rain-soaked Caer Odyn Galch.

Sion Pugh opened the scoring with a superbly placed finish before goals from William Roberts and Ioan Joseph extended the Tigers' lead. Ryan Davies then helped himself to two goals, while Osian Clark marked his return to the club by completing the scoring.

Veteran Clint Middleton was the architect of much of Talybont's attacking play, providing four assists, while Leo Nicholas scored Machynlleth's consolation goal.

Bont produced another strong second-half display to secure a 4-1 win over Dolgellau Reserves and claim an important three points.

The visitors fell behind midway through the first half when Rhys Jones gave the hosts the lead, but Bont responded in impressive fashion after the break. Joseph Balla struck twice, with William Evans and Rory Davies also on target as the visitors turned the game around in style to complete a deserved victory.
