DOLGELLAU Athletic booked their place in the next round of the FAW Amateur Trophy with a convincing 6-0 victory over Tywyn Bryncrug at Cae Marian on Saturday.

Gerwyn Williams set the hosts on their way with two early goals. Tywyn responded well and created a handful of threatening situations from set-pieces, ensuring the tie remained competitive going into the interval.

However, Dolgellau stepped up a gear after the break and turned their dominance into goals. Williams completed an excellent hat-trick before adding a fourth, while Naysha Mwamuka and Osian Morris also found the net to complete an emphatic win.

Pwllheli also progressed after coming through an entertaining nine-goal thriller at Barmouth & Dyffryn United, winning 6-3 at Wern Mynach.

The Magpies led 2-1 at half-time thanks to goals from Joe Soar and Joey Thomas, with Jack Jones replying for Pwllheli.

Josua Jones levelled for the visitors early in the second half, but Barmouth responded almost immediately as Thomas grabbed his second goal of the afternoon to restore the home side's advantage.

Pwllheli remained composed and drew level again when Sion Roberts fired past goalkeeper David Jones. With the game still finely balanced, the visitors finished strongly, Owen Roberts putting them ahead before Jones struck his second goal of the contest. Cian Pritchard then added a sixth.

Elsewhere, Nefyn United bowed out after a narrow 2-1 defeat at Conwy Borough. Connor Morris and Dion Jones gave the hosts a two-goal lead before Deio Jones pulled one back for Nefyn with 15 minutes remaining.

Penhyndeudraeth also exited the competition following a 3-0 defeat at Kinmel Bay. After a tightly contested goalless first half, the home side took control after the interval through Seydou Bamba and substitutes Joseph Robertson and James Hay.

Llanystumdwy suffered the same fate, going down 3-0 at Llanidloes, where second-half goals from Joshua Jones, Edward Clarke and Rhys Evans secured victory for the Daffs.
