ABERYSTWYTH University gave their promotion hopes a boost with a timely 3-2 win away against Abermule in the Spar Mid Wales division two on Sunday.

Having lost ground with a goalless draw at home to Churchstoke the day before, the students responded positively.

They trailed 2-0 at the break through Charlie Humphreys and a Chris Warden own goal, but they turned it around after the break with a few tactical changes.

Liam Powell pulled one back when latching onto a through ball, and player boss Chris Warden levelled matters with a header, from Powell’s long throw-in.

The winner came when Matthew Hunton’s free kick hit the bar and bounced down, and Tom Francis nipped in to make sure the ball had crossed the line.

Elsewhere Bont slipped to second-from-bottom as Dyffryn Banw leapfrogged above their hosts with 2-1 win.

Dewi Sion Evans netted for Bont, but the visitors triumphed through Tom Foulkes and an own goal.

Kerry won 7-0 at Presteigne, with a hat-trick from Luke Mumford, and singles from Matt Mumford, Daryl Mcwatt, Huw McGrath and an own goal.

Chris Carroll, Richard Davies and Rob Pritchard earned leaders Berriew a 3-0 win at Newbridge, Bettws beat Radnor Valley 4-2, and Builth Wells won 3-1 at Four Crosses.
